As of Dec 2020 all external Power Supplies for A/V equipment will have to meet new levels of efficiency, in particular idle current draw. A good summary can be found here:

New External Power Supply Standards: 62368 to Replace 60950 and 60065 | Power Electronics

This will have the probable effect of eliminating linear supplies (in favour of switch mode variants) with commercial A/V and might cause the remaining linear supplies to be eliminated from supplier catalogs.

The title of this thread might be a teeny bit misleading(?) - see the external in the title there? ;)
That's (only) wall-warts, in layman's terms. Those, and power bricks (laptop chargers, external power supplies for slim displays etc).

From what i can read in that article (and there are a LOT of mentions of "external"), this won't be covering the big fat iron you'll find in 5.1-7.1 AV receivers / home theater amps :D More like only the always-on stand-by supplies in those.

But then again, how often do you find "iron" wall-warts being supplied with A/V equipment nowadays anyway? Those will be low-power devices anyway (the ones above that may well have the power supply built in).
