Wind choke on split bobbin

I need to wind a choke for power supply filtering, but I run out of the regular bobbins, and just have a couple of split bobbins.

Could I just wind two windings (one of each side) and then make a series connection? Any drawback?

I suppose I would only have to be careful of phasing.
Any comment?

assuming this is for a 50/60 Hz point in the circuit...e.g. not a switcher inductor, I don't foresee any problems so long as you phase the windings correctly.

No drawback, you'll end up with an inductor with a higher Q than one wound on a regular bobbin. I only use multi chamber bobbins these days. Wind the first chamber and then pull the wire over to the second chamber, tape it down and wind the second chamber.

kaputt, why not cut the wire, wind two separate windings, then connect?
If you just pull the wire, it has to be held against the wall, and it makes winding harder if the wire is not very thin.

Two separate windings give you the choice of wiring in series for max inductance or parallel for max current.

AFAIK parallel windings have to be done carefully, as both windings must have exact same number of turns

Yes, so you would have to count carefully. A small difference might not do too much harm, though.
