better rectifier

so.. this question was forming in my head for a sortha long time.

would germanium diodes improve a rectifier?
what about precision rectifiers ?
anything suited more towards more precise rectification that would be useful ?

I do not have the knowledge to juge it, and would like to hear some opinions.

Germanium diodes are likely to have high reverse leakage.

Precision rectifier is an op-amp circuit for rectifying low-level signals in instrumentation, not a power supply technique.

What is "precise rectification"? In order to understand the answers, you first have to understand the question!

If you are thinking about the volt drop..

When do your diodes conduct if the capacitors are charged in the PSU..ie if the capacitors are at 50V then when is the diode forward biased?
