Hi Guys,
Been out of diy for awhile but am getting back into it.
My first project is going to be a Tda1541 dac.
Without having to go discreet/shunt or any exotic
regulators, what are the good regs that can be
bought off the selves. Some friends a telling me
that TI Reg104 series are pretty good. Been out
of touch for too long. Would appreciate some
guidance & advice.
Thanks

It could just be that they were/are very cheap and that they perform just good for what they cost. But ... recently standard 7805 IC's have become much better than they originally were. Recent versions of certain manufacturers measure so well that they are hard to beat.

Andrew, you are mixing up things here. Performance is one thing and quality an another. The 78xx and 79xx series and the 317/337 regulators are still being manufactured and used by the million.
This is some decades after they were introduced.
They must be good.
If they were bad, surely they would all be recalled, or the customers would stop using them.
