I am running this pre and it's surprising me that even though it's heating the regulator pretty good (using power itself), and driving the pre below, it's power isn't dipping at all and the windings on the transformer feel cool to the touch. I wouldn't have thought this possible since it's only a 4.4VA tranny at 56VCT.
I think I understand how to size the transformer (oversize by whatever margin I feel good about). But this should pull more than 4.4VA as far as I can see. I'm not sure how I'm not running into any problems. Is it not that important to oversize the power tranny?
