Default Rectifier caps; go for the huge ones?

Hi!
I'm finishing up my power supply circuit, and my rectifier PCB looks like this:

I got 6x 10000uF and 6x 22000 uF, but I don't know what's best suited for driving a 2.1 amplifier. is it true that bigger is better?

With larger caps there is less ripple but higher peak current spikes through the transformer and rectifiers.

Initial turn-on can also be an issue with some fast blow fuses and stiff transformers.

IMO ESR is more important.

Check the specs.

And choose wisely

More is definitely better, but you get diminishing returns.

Regarding peak current, it is worth reading the relevant section in the ESP power supply article (and indeed the whole article).

Very interesting read.

I have great respect for ESP and my thoughts on diode peak current was not a result of tests but of "thought experiment".

I will have to now set something up and actually do a test to see how significant the peak diode currents are...I will have to back my opinion with results.

Thank you for politely pointing that out to me.
