Toroidal trans choice?

I was wondering if one is any better than the other. The Antek is cheaper but, how does it compare to the Avel.

All I use are Antek toroids due to their incredible value. I also have an Avel toroid powering a LM4780 amp. As far as quality is concerned, Antek toroids are just as quiet, especially the AS models, in my humble opinion.

As far as I know, copper = copper, insulation = insulation, iron = iron.
Therefore they are the same.

Now now Andrew, that's not like you. Where's the discussion about core material, what temperature rise the maker finds acceptable and how close to saturation they are running it?

Umm...Poll shows 2 for the Avel and zero for the Antek. Based on the posts, I would have thought it would be closer.

Well...I've used both and two out of 7(?) Avels had mechanical buzzing, I think from loose windings. I replaced them with equivalent Anteks and the problem was gone. In my opinion the Anteks are not only less expensive, but superior quality. Their AS series has an inter-winding EMI shield and an external magnetic shield. They're hard to beat.

I would have thought more people would have used both brands and have an opinion about each. The other thing that I found strange is that the posts seem to be in favor of Antek where as the poll favors Avel.
