TVS Diodes

I have no previous knowledge of these diodes. I have an LCD monitor that was blowing fuses. Thanks to Diyaudio, I have a basic idea how to find basic problems. When I pulled one of the PK220ca diodes, the bulb went out. There are two of them parallelled across the AC line. One of them was short circuited across the circuit. Can these be ommitted even if temorary to test the rest of the TV?

Yes. I think this is what is sometimes called a "transorb." It is used to short spikes on the line. I wouldn't leave it out permanently; it did its job and if the situation occurs again, it's liable to take out components that aren't as easy to repair.

Are you talking about a diode in power supply? What is the Brand and model number?

They are P6KE220CA. In a Switch mode Power supply

You can order them from Digikey, they cost $.25 each. and you should never leave them out of circuit Replace both and if they blow again....check power supply (caps).
