As it has been sayd, 12V is just too small of a voltage to give any cind of real power on audio amplifiers, and coneccting more batteries in series comes with it's own issues, so why not use a SMPS to step up the voltage? any car power amp has it and nowone is complaining i think, a good design ensures that no noise will get to the power amp, there are good filtering solutions, you just have to use them propperly and they will ensure a good quality SMPS, it does not even need to be a regulated one if the power devices are well sized, ofcourse a regulated PSU gives better performance but it is more complex.
