Default 2 x 115-2x500 to 2 x 240-2 x 1000?

Hi all.

I have an antek 400w 2 x 500v toridal transformer with twin 115v primarys that i'm using in a choke input supplied hybrid valve (6d22s -2 per phase) rectified sterio GM70 SE power amplifier, 125-145ma/channel. Designed Ht is ~850-900v.
as i have a few 10H 350ma chokes i was planing on LCLC supply feeding both channels, possably via a simple regulator.

looking at the chassis i see 4 6d22s, 2 chokes and a transformer with duel secondarys. This got me thinking if it was possible to safely feed the primarys in parallel rather than series to get 2 x 1000v and have an LC power supply per channel?

Any advice gratefully recieved!

No. You will almost certainly get significant core saturation and serious overheating. Most mains transformers cannot be used at more than about 10% overvoltage; some can barely cope with their rated voltage when off-load.

Ah, thanks for that!

perhaps in the future i'll invest in a second 1000v transformer.
