Do we need a new thread? I suggest we carry out a poll of our Members to see if there is a concensus one way or the other.

I like to keep things simple. I don't feel there is so much traffic in here that we need the split.

Could be good in theory, but in practice threads and questions wander.
Pure SMPS design/theory and practice is one thing but what when the topic veers to adding say normal regulators to the SMPS output (for example). I would call that moving into linear territory then. I suspect there could be to much crossover between the two for it to be workable as some threads progress. We'll see what other views come in.
