That's great news. It overheated slowly enough that that could be it. I'll swap the resistor out tomorrow and see what happens.

Edit: I see how it happened. I put about 12V in the calculator I saw, but my wall-wart is 12V AC, which gives a lot more DC. Oops.

you need DC not AC if you use AC you need a full wave bridge for + - dc.

hi,
If you combine these you might have what your after
Change polarities for negative side ,Are you going to use 2 circuits cause you won't get + and - 10 vdc out of a single 12 ac
Did you get the Stabdesign.exe Calculator to work ?
You will need more voltage to get + and - 10 volts out or build 2 circuits,google got a bunch of drawings,for full wave dual power supplies.

Oh no, I understand I need D.C. I've got a voltage doubler before the regulators to give me +/- DC from a single AC wall wart :-)
