Default Any Opinions on Tube-Rectifiers & PWR-Sup. sag on purpose for guitar amps?

I'm just wondering what experiences people have had,
subbing in and out Solid State rectifiers vs. tubes,
and/or playing through vintage amps with tube-rectifiers,
vs. the modern option of S.S. diodes, and what contribution
these options have to overdrive performance and sound.
