Hi
i like to build amps to try and hence the need for variable output. Big Transformers and caps are expensive ! I am looking for suggestions for smps where V out can be adjusted with about 5 amp capability. I need +/- rails up to 50 V thanks kp93300 |

I recommend a multi-tapped transformer and build a conventional PSU.

A smps flyback would be your best bet for this topology. You could probably move the Vo about 25% or so without serious loop issues.

Hi
thanks for the replies. Seems that it is difficult to buy a smps with a wide range of V out between 24 v to 45 v dc . kp93300 |

Sorry, I guess I missed something. I thought these were SMPS. My apologies.
Add a 1KVA isolation transformer in from of the variac and you are done. Tony |

which Tony? my suggestion is to use the isolation type power transformer after the variac so you can play with input voltages to get the rail voltages you desire....
