Default Tube rectification for DAC SS analogue

hi guys

i am considering using 6X4 to power an analog SS dac out that has max 20mA current draw. toying with duncan psud, i need 40vac to get rectification of around 20vdc.

what are the tubes recommendation? would 6X4 be sufficient?

i am wondering if anyone has tried powering the dac output SS stage with tube rectification? whats the configuration?

thanks in advance

Maybe nobody has tried it. Why do you think that might be?

I've seen a couple around on the web, but unfortunately no recollection where.. I would think something like a hexfred would be a better choice, and should provide the soft turn off characteristic you get with tube rectifiers without the losses and high source impedance.

I would suspect that the dac is not operating on 20V and that there are a bunch of small linear regulators making the local voltages required - this would negate any sonic 'benefit' of the tube rectifier..

Thanks Kevin for the inputs

It would be lovely if ya can recall the keyword for Google search. But in the mean time I would just go with Salas reg before any working solution is found using tube rectifier

Thanks
Erwin
