Thanks, though why did you opt for PFC....a 450W amplifier will run at <<75W most of the time, so you dont need PFC.

You can make it simpler and cheaper with no PFC

@eem2am yeah u r right i didnt need a pfc ......................... but how do u incorporate a universal input range and good power factor without a pfc................

you can do universal range with a link for a voltage doubler when at 110VAC.

PFC is just not necessary for audio SMPS.......unless you are making an smps for an amplifier which is going to be used to play music to the crowd in a football stadium.

You will find that you average power draw is ridiculously low even with your music on full blast.

Why do you care about PFC?

Doesnt your manager want a cheap product.?

wat ever u r saying is very correct .......................... i will try a smps with a voltage doubler in front .......... can u share a schematic of the given doubler........

its just liek normal FWB , but you put the ac conenction of one bit into the midpoint of the split input capacitors....so its just a link wire.

Its simpel but difficult to describe in words.

Basically , the mains pulses go alternately into the upper or lower electolyitc capacitor.........so you get the doubling effect

as i say, from the normal mains rectifier full bridge. you just make the link, nothing more.

@eem2am i have done such a thing..............

but at 90V input i have dc value of 243V and at 132V i have 356V
How will i maintain the regulation of my smps ........ Can a feed back network from the output maintain the regulation.........
