If you actually use 4 strong leds it maybe there or near there, but always confirm on the actual build in the end that the current is near your goal.

Ok, I could use some help mates. Here's my build:
Click the image to open in full size.

This is built for 18V, component needs 100ma, built for 250ma.

IRF built, HEXFRED 600V 8A diodes, a 1K 5W dummy load, a 10Ohm Zobel, an 1.8K R303, a 5K trimmer with the zener jumped. I'm using a 50VA 12V Amveco wired in series (24v). Also, 10000uf, 63v Nichicon KG and 10UF 100v caps.

When I power it up, the diodes and the Nichicon get very hot very quick. When I read the AC in, it's about 13v (~27v with no load). Thoughts?

Tested and tuned the positive build, and it'd dead on. Hmmm.

Big right side Nichicon on photo is reversed. More voltage and it would bring paper snow Xmas in da house.

No worries I do worse all the time. Check if the cap got any damage by examining its top surface for being slightly bulged VS the other one or not.

Half done. It would take an ESR meter to compare now and determine if its usable or not. I would recommend to just bin it if it was not an expensive part or put it aside if you got a spare until you can probably check it given an opportunity.

P.S. Electronics repair shops got ESR meters handy for the computers and monitors/flat TVs that pop many lytics all the time in their SMPS mainly. If you got one around ask him to check it out. It will just take 2 secs.
