Question: Subsituting Capacitors in Power Supply
Hi:
I found Mouser has 5600uF/100V 105 Panasonic FC series electrolytic capacitors at a great price of $2.23 each ($1.60 if you buy 25). The part number is EEU-FC1A562SB Is there any downside of using 3 of these in parallel to replace the large (expensive) 15000uF/100V in the power supply of a vintage amplifier? Of course, it will be a tight fit  Rgds Mayank |

There are advantages of having loads of smaller caps as opposed to a few larger devices.

if you can fit them its better because of the esr of each cap is in parallel and thus lowers the impedance of the power supply.
