Hi
I'm in the process of designing a simple power supply for a TA2024 class-t amp, which needs a 12V fixed supply. I've salvaged an old Transformer from a battery charger and measured its RMS output to be 12.8V. My plan is the following circuit:- Transformer(12.8Vrms)->Full Bridge Rectifier(~16V)->Smoothing Caps->7812 Regulator(2A max) Now I read that a large capacitor bank is good for audio response, so does having only the capacitor bank infront of the rectifier matter? Or should I put an additional Capacitor after the Regulator. For what its worth I'm making this a quick build and I have 4x6700uF caps on hand only. Any advice is greatly appreciated, Matt |

Capacitors before the regulator.
Regulator must be able to supply the peak current draw of the amplifier. Decoupling capacitors should be used near the amplifier IC. |
