Hello,
NAD C165/C275: When i plug the power amp into the pre-amp and turn the amp, the pre amp keeps blowing fuses. I know i'm a noob, but this is ridiculous! The preamp has a 120v switched and unswitched plug ins, so what's the problem? |

The NAD C165BEE switched outlet is rated for 120W, or 1 Amp at the standard US line voltage of 120 volts. This outlet is protected by a 2 Amp fuse in the preamp which also must pass the current needed to run the preamp. The C275BEE amplifier is fairly high power and uses 312W or 2.6 Amps in normal operation. There is also a high surge current when the amp powers on. Comparing the outlet ratings vs. the amp's requirement, the preamp simply is not able to power the amp from the switched outlet. The fuse should blow if you try to power the amp from the switched preamp outlet so things are working as designed.
