Default Please check my first HV regulator

Hello,

I want to build a regulated B+ PS for an amplifier I have. It now has a passive RC filtered supply. However, this will be my first one and I'm not sure I got it right.

Thanks!

Hi,

Being more of a SMPS person, 3 X 470uf of input C seems excessive for a little over 20 watts out.
But more important, I hope you just omitted a line isolation transformer from the schematic so that it would fit on the screen.

That´s right, I already have a toroidal transformer with a 120 volt 1 a secondary. I´m going to add it to the schematic to make it clearer.

With regard to the input capacitance, I also suspected it was too much but this is for a OTL 6080 based headphone amp and I want it to be very quiet. Also, there are only 9v across the IRF840 so the ripple has to be low. According to PSUII, if I only use one 470uf capacitor the ripple would be a little over 2v but I am not sure if that would be quiet enough.

Thanks a lot for your input,

Diego

If you had said it was for an OTL headphone amp at the beginning I would not have questioned even
4 X 470uf. I have not looked at the rest of the schematic yet but I will let you know if I find something that does not look right. Cool idea!
