Default finger sized ferrite rods

In the Lampizator design of a mains "filtering" unit called SILK:

AC filterr DIY ESA SILK

the designer talks about "finger sized ferrite rods" and "finger type ferrite rods"

Can anybody tell me what they are and/or what the difference is between the two?

I think he's referring to the kind of rods that are used for antenna coils (on the back of some receivers/radios) ?
Check your 'junk box'...

Check at Farnell.
Part # 1635813 is 6 mm diameter and 30.9 mm lenght
Part # 1635817 is 12 mm diameter and 30.9 mm lenght
Both are already made inductors, but they can be easily unvinded

There are all different types of ferrites and winding wire around an unknown type seems just plain foolish. The usual large rods are often used for AM antennas and may be type 43, but there's no guarantee. I'd start with Amidon as a source of both rods and info.

Conrad, I was actually planning to build this line filter based on Lukasz schematic. (see the attached link below). Hence, why I was looking for the ferrite rod. Any suggestions on a suitable type for this? Appreciate your help.

Cheers!
