Hi I am looking for a smps that can produce upto 2kw and 400 volts DC.
Can anyone please point me to were I can source these types of smps's, what they are properly identified as and what they may cost. I wish to connect it to a grid connect solar PV system. I thought it would be a good way to "extend" the day light ours of use by my panels, giving me a better return from the state electical wholesale supplier as I receive a greater payback for electricity i put in the grid verses what it costs me to run the smps. I was planning to run the smps 2-3 hrs befor and after normal daylight operations. Does anyone have any suggestions if the think there could be any negative issues with the panels. Your idea's and advice will be appreciated. Cheers, Dizipia |

Huh? I don't get it. You need an smps that outputs 400Vdc @ 2kW? What is the input going to be? And what are you going to feed those 400Vdc to?

Do you mean simulating output of PV panels with diesel generator and smps?

sounds like some sort of DC to DC, depends on what will be input voltage

I will be using 240 volts AC to run the smps. I am trying to "simulate" additional panels or "more" sun light hours.
If you can understand my meaning. Thanks |

Yeah, I get it. And use a diesel gen to get 240Vac? How is the power fed back to the powerco, as 400Vdc over a special line, or through the regular 240Vac net? If the latter, then you don't need the whole smps, do you?
In any case, you don't necessarily need an smps. A linear power supply consisting of a 240V:300V transformer, a bridge rectifier and maybe a huge electrolytic will probably do just fine. A couple of diodes could prevent any damage to the panels, but the exact protection requirements depend on the auxiliary electronics for the panels. I'm not aware of a commercial source for 240Vac - 400Vdc @ 2kW smps that sells to individuals. It's not something you come across on a daily basis in the market place. |

240AC, 400Vdc... check power PFC units, I'm sure you will be able to find 2kw unit easy
