See Pass Laboratories. Check out the documentation for Zen version 3 and Zen version 5. These have information in regards to just such a power supply as you are looking for.

Hi,
the peak current demand from a 50W speaker will far exceed 2Apk. expect upto 20Apk for a 4ohm speaker and upto 15Apk for an 8ohm speaker.

Ever heard of Google?
I know this is a help forum but at least try to make an effort to find out yourself before you ask. Last edited by Gopher; 24th February 2011 at 11:33 AM. |

Have you found out yet what type of supply an amplifier needs?
Have you found out yet what level of AC current flows through an 8ohm 50W resistor driven to 50W? Does the AC current change when you drive a 4ohm resistor to 50W? Have you found out if a 50W speaker is a similar load on an amplifier as a resistor of the same nominal impedance? Do some homework and you will discover that your request for a 2x24 V, 2A schematic is a nonsense.

You really are going to need a much bigger power supply that the one you are asking for.

Gioutsos - my advice to you is buy an amplifier.
It will be cheaper than building one and inevitably less painful for you, especially when you try to wire up the mains. Seriously, if you don't understand the basics of Ohm's law, don't **** around with lethal voltages. |
