Hi,
I want to remove the casing for the Cambridge Audio A1 (MK3), I can remove the back screws easily with a small flat-ended screwdriver, but the four on the sides have star nuts and are far too tightened for a screwdriver. Anyone know the size/type of torque screwdriver I need for these? It might be the same for most amplifiers, I'm just not in the know. I basically want to check if a fuse has blown on the circuitboard/check nothing's burnt out because the power's gone. Thanks in advance Oliver |

See if you can get one loose with an appropriately sized Allen wrench (hex wrench), then take the screw to a hardware store and find the driver that fits. I have a collection of Torx drivers next to me, and I use most of them. SO if there is a "standard" size, I am not aware of that. I probably use the T15 the most, but that is no guarantee in your case.

Hey, thanks for the advice. In the end I found I'd only blown the power plug fuse, so it wasn't as big a problem as I thought, and the power's back! I'll probably get an allen wrench in case they go under the roof, so this is excellent advice.
I now have a problem of finding an appropriate cartridge for my Dual CS 506-1. It says Made in Japan 524, so need to investigate... |
