I just went to ebay UK and entered 12V 5A as the search argument. I got an large number of returns including this 24V DC Power Supply 5A BALLUFF BAE0006 PSU on eBay (end time 16-Sep-10 08:15:58 BST) which is tall and expensive and several other laptop supplies such as this Multi-Function Laptop AC Adapter & Charger - 12V 24V 5A on eBay (end time 15-Sep-10 14:18:20 BST) where the dimensions are not stated, although it looks to be ~6 inches. You could try contacting the suppliers for the dimensions.

What are the maximum dimensions? You could modify a PC power supply, but it would probably be too big.
