I have 2 different Kits in my possession and I would like to get them to work together.
1st kit: Glassware PS-4 tube PS 2nd Kit: Triode Electronics ST-70 mic preamp project I am running the PS-4 with the 10K/ 5w series resistor and 47uF/450v PS caps with B+ going to eyelet 20 on the ST-70 board. What I don't know is what to hookup to eyelet 19? Triode has a Tube rect PS schematic for the preamp that shows another 10K series resistor and 100uF cap for eyelet 19. Do I need that coming off the PS-4 power supply to make the preamp work or can I just hook up 19 and 20 to B+? I was also wondering if anyone can tell me if the mic pre is a MU follower? If you hook 19 to 20, the hum will increase. 19 might be intended to reduce hum, and 20 is intended to give more power to final stage. You could connect 19 to 20 if the ripple is very minimum, e.g. using series of big chokes (>50H), since this is low signal, high gain amplifier. Adjustment of 220k resistor may be necessary if higher supply is given (check B+ first to datasheet of EF86).
Anyway, the high gain itself some is got from step up transformer rather than all active :-) I think it is Mu Follower (power follower, or Cathode Follower), driven by an AF (anode follower or common source). Thx, Ervin L Last edited by ervinl; 17th August 2010 at 02:41 AM. |
