I am building a 100W tube amp and the power supply. Attached is a rough schematic of the power supply. I am using 4 EL-34's for the power amp and 12AX7's for the preamps and phase splitter. I plan on using the 460Vdc for the Plate voltage into a Hammond output transformer. The 445Vdc is for the screens of the EL-34s. 419V will power the phase inverter and 2 gain stages of the Overdrive preamp channel. 407 V will possibly power 1 gain stage, 402 will power 2 gain stages and 252Vdc will power 2 stages of the clean channel preamp.
The power transformer used is a Hammond 272JX rated at 600V C.T.rms @ 287mA. Based on calculations from The Valve Wizard I figured that I will have some where around 295mA. Based on data sheets, I figured that a preamp tube will draw 5mA per tube half. The resistor values seems too low. Could I get some opinions on if this sounds correct to you guys. |
