230VAC to 5VDC 2A SMPS power supply design needed.

Hi guys, I need to make a power supply that can do 5v 2-3A powered from 230VAC. This needs to be a small psu so it would probably have to be a smps design.

It's to power a GPRS module and ethernet controller.

Does anyone know of a reference design or design I could use?

Standard fare in most flyback controller chip appnotes. There should be one in UC3842 appnotes.

There should be plenty of application notes and reference designs for that at places like linear.com, and maybe national.com, among many others.

Off-the-shelf modules are commonly available for that specification.

Yes, I recently bought a 5V 4A brick - size 10cm * 6cm * 2.5cm for 35RMB (under $6 even with the recent Yuan revaluation). Can't see how it could possibly be worthwhile to build your own unless you have some particularly stringent noise spec for instance.
