Greetings,
I found a very high quality and power supply (made for hospital equipment). I intend to use it as an auxillary 12V supply for one of my builds... It's build around a 18V/1A transformer and IPS IP317T 8731 chip. It also has a large TOWA 35V/2200uF Cap on board. I couldn't find the datasheet so I'm asking here: 1) How much V/current/Watt can I expect it to supply reliably? 2) Would changing the transformer to 12V variance with more power can get me better performances or will the IP317T limit it's output? Eventually I'll need 12V at around 750mA of continues use. Thank you in advance, Gal |

I'm guessing here, but the IC might be an LM317T Google it.
2200uF 35V isn't a big capacitor, but it might be big enough. I would expect 12V 680mA continusly from the components you're refering to, maybe some more current if the data on the transformer are conservative. |
