Hi, first post, jumping right in with a question, hope that's okay!
On another forum, I have been trying to plan out a chip amp build with an STK 463 stereo amp chip, which would be pretty similar to a gainclone. Here is the current question. In the suggested power supply from the datasheet (see below), there are two 500ohm bleeder resistors. Wondering if anyone could help me understand why 500ohms was chosen, and how I should adjust if using an additional pair of 4700uf caps?

Anybody? I guess I should have mentioned that the transformer here is +-23.25vac

For this low freq PSU application biggest capasitor is the best. I think bleeder resistor just for discharge the capasitor after it turned off or just for idle load.

Okay, but doesn't 500 Ohm seem on the verge of being too small? Seems like these are usually more like 1.5kOhm-5.5kOhm.

Let me simply the question: did the mfg. select a minimal resistance for a particular reason? Or, would any safe ohm/wattage rating be just as good?
