You're certainly free to have no standards and feel that dishonest claims are OK. And you're certainly free to allow a scammer to try to sully your hard-earned reputation in exchange for a few nice meals and getting to ride around in a fancy car. You may forgive him for that, but I can't. He's using someone who is honest to take the bullets for his scam, and that's (IMO) reprehensible.

Oh, I have standards, MY EARS, that is first and foremost. I proved these devices, with my ears, over 15 years ago, BEFORE I even met Jack Bybee. The rest is very rare, and I give Jack as much as I get. He and I share love of audio. Sometimes, good food, very little else. When I made an honest living with Parasound, several years ago, I was expected to pay for 1/2 of the lunches that we had together, even Chez Panisse.

Hi,
Are you quite sure? Actually, this thread was started by the OP asking for help on making his own, "parts cost and personal labour" only version of the Bybee devices. For all we know they may be a fancily wrapped piece of wire or the RFI Suppressors I remember seeing or something else entirely. THAT IS THE POINT OF THIS THREAD. The commercial side is actually irrelevant. Quote:

"Lets make a DIY Copy of the Bybee Purifier which according to the orthodox shepherds of this congregation does absolutely nothing" Thread (eg. the constructive one for constructive people) and the: "Lets have some more Bybee bashing and whitchhunting" thread where all those who wish to debunk a fraud may vent their righteous anger and indignation? I promise to post only to the first thread. I have no real interest to reform anyone (not that anyone actually CAN reform someone else, at best they may rectify themselves), but I have a passing interrest in knowledge and truth. Currently the most vocal posters in this thread seem to wish to deny either. Quote:

Going back to the OP, some-one wants to know how the Bybee Quantum Purifiers work and how to make his own. If we for a moment put aside all the ** and all the geifering and wingflapping going on here, we actually had another poster kind of confirming my take. He wrote "ferrite and...other stuff". And he was clearly not a Bybee supporter. I personally note the devices inside these purifiers appear to be a variant of "ferrite" (making it of course no longer ferrite, except in common parlance for magnetic ceramics) that likely omits Iron. So we arrive at a sensible recommendation for someone trying to see the DIY way if there is anything, namely look for commercial ceramic RFI Suppressors that do not contain iron (eg. not ferrite). Now such a recommendation could have come from Sy. Had he been less bent on banging on about frauds and scammers and nigerians but a little more interested in what is really happening. Can such devices in speaker leads or mains cables etc. make appreciable differences that can be measured and or heard? Well, that is another story. However if Bybee Purifiers are basically "disguised" RFI suppressors they certainly CAN have an effect in certain conditions. Again, note that non of this has anything to do with the actual eXistenCe of Mr Bybee or not, if he forged his credentials or not, if his explanation of the workings of his devices (if he is real) is accurate, can be sustained by current or future scientific theory, if his devices represent fair value for money, if he (if he is real and not just a figment of his accountants immagination) is an honest person or a scammer worse than nigerians 911's and so on. All of that is in the sphere of social interactions which have zero bearing on the OP's quest. It has however all to do with dealing the material (as in made from actual matter and not from methaphorical hot air) subject at the core of this whole thread. One might say that the actual original subject of this thread and the majority of the "debunking" discussion occupy seperate and non-overlapping magisteria. Ciao T

Jack called me from Lake Tahoe. Unfortunately, I was taking to Teresa (reviewer for 'Positive Feedback') and I could not take his call. Maybe later. ;-)
