sola cvs

i picked up a sola cvs today,

i really dont know whet applications it can be used for, are there any pertaining to audio testing or use?

It's a voltage regulator with high source impedance. Would work well feeding a preamp, but should be undersized if you want to run a power amp, maybe 30%.

I use one with excellent results feeding all my heaters and filaments; ultra quiet supply, regulated, and likes resistive loads. Rectification is run off unregulated ac line.

i plugged it in and it works but buzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz, not loud but not quiet at all, is this normal?

Yup, unfortunately.

Keep them away from room corners, where this buzz tends to get amplified. I put a box with one open end over mine, tucked away behind the rack out of site. Doesn't get too hot after many hours, though the cores are known to run at really high temps.

Is that a ferro-resonate transformer?
If so I don't think that it will improve most sound systems.
First it needs to be loaded to maybe 50 % of it's rated power to do much filtering.
So power amps are not a good load.
Second it runs hot.
Third it hums.
