I am currently trying to put together a power supply for an amp (50WPC into 8 Ohms) supply voltage requirement is 24-48VDC.
I have four 120VA 24V toroidal transformers, with the intention of using one for each of the + and - supply rails of the two channels. This will give 32V and up to 5A on each DC supply line. My question is this... Is it perhaps better to use something like a 300VA 2x 25V centre tapped transformer? Would this only give 3A on each supply line, or is my electrical theory way out here? I want to be able to supply the amp with as much current as it should ever reasonably need. |
