Default Transfer Loop Measurement of the power supply

YouTube - Transfer Loop Measurement of the power supply

What do you think, will somebody try this?

Hi Luca,

Yes this method works... I use this way (but with a network analyzer) to measure the loop in e.g buck converters.

is that trafo really normal, 50-60Hz type, or is it pulse or some other type of trafo?

I use a small signal transformer, like e.g something from a single ended to ballanced LF converter. It does not have to be big at all.

What are you working on?

half bridge, slowly need to get the "feel" for feedback and current limiting, so new version will be in order. And if I do this, why not do it right, its about time for me

If you want to, I suggest you start with a buck converter.
You can make the loop simulation/calculation relativly simple, and verify results by measurements.
I am not an expert, but I will be able to help you with the simulations/calculations.

Warm regards

I'll keep this in mind, but for now, I need to finish 4ch car amp, that will replace my "old" AB amp

But if I ask, why buck? feedback is feedback and should work on any type of converter, right?

The Buck converter is the easiest to make a model of... and it has few part to blow if you insert too much signal in the loop while trying to measure
