There are numerous commercial pin-compatible 17/37XX and 78/79XX regulator replacements around (both series and shunt types) from different suppliers including:
Paul Hynes (3 Terminal Regulator Replacements) Tentlabs (Shunt Regulator) NewClassD (NewClassD UWB Regulators) Burson Audio (Burson Regulator) and possibly many others........ Did anybody actually compare some of these directly and what was your experiences? Spec comments from the suppliers are of course also welcome! Thanks, Nic |

Many semiconductor companies make more modern versions of the 78xx regulators, including some drop-in replacements. It is also often possible to adapt existing boards to use more modern regulators that are not drop-in replacements.

I've tried Bursons, Audiocom, Sercal and Paul Hynes but not compared them all direct
I'd love to compare them all direct on say the Buffalo32 AVCC L&R , maybe someday and post results |
