I want to modify my tube mic power supply. It is reccommended to replace
1N4761 with 1N4758 to reduce capsule voltage from 196 volts to 112 volts. The thing is that the diodes in mine are 1N4007 not 1N4761. I don't know my diode values. Will 1N4758 reduce my voltage? Thanks |

What mic, what supply, can you post or link to schematics? Without a context, or recognizing those numbers as part of something specific, we are in the dark here.
1N4007 are rectifiers, while the 1N47xx are zener diodes. It would not be unusual at all to find both types in a power supply. The 1N4007s are used to make the raw DC for the circuits, and the 1N47xx in the voltage regulator circuit. If you don't know what a particular diode is rated for, just enter the part number into google and a link to a data sheet will emerge. or look the part up in Mouser, and click on the data sheet link on the line with each part. Usually one data sheet covers the entire sequence, so you ought to find a chart with ALL the 1N47xx series listed in order of voltage. Of course 1N4007 will be on a separate sheet. |
