Hi
Please excuse this non-audio related question. I have just replaced a potentiality faulty reservoir cap in an LCD display. I hooked up a light bulb tester and the bulb glows brightly, and flickers in time with the switching power supply. I didn't use the bulb tester before changing the cap so I am unsure if the bulb would have flashed in the same way. EDAC EP2200 Any help will be appreciated? Thanks Richard |

Be carefull!! SMPS is not for dummies
Not that I say that you are...They often involve quite large high voltage capacitors, that will tickle quite hard.... |

Wow, almost two years to the day of my last post my second display panel has failed. I swapped out a few of the components from the original monitor to locate the faulty part, and this time its the smps. An identical supply is pictured in the first post.
I noticed a pulsating whine when trying to power up the screen, and think it was coming from the smps. I tried cycling the power quickly a couple of times and the screen would display briefly. When the screen first failed it blew a fuse, this was replaced and it didn't happen again. Any suggestions? Thanks Richard |

Some pics of the power supply and part numbers on the ICs, mosfets and diodes please. I assume you do have a multimeter. Use a 100W bulb in series with this supply, that looks like a big monitor.
