Default 5V dc power supply

Searching for good 5V dc power supply schematic.

That can deliver min 0.5A with very low noise.

Why not use a 5 Volt Voltage Regulator IC like 7805 which regulates 7 volt to 15 volt to accurate 5 volt and have a current rating of 1A,

use National IC like LM7805
