2 IC SMPS for car audio, how stupid is this?
I was thinking about a power supply for a car audio amp using a 3886 (or similar) the other day and wondered if it is possible to use 2 separate controllers for each rail rather than a traditional smps.
On one side would be a boost switcher and the other would use an inverting controller. 1) Will this work 2) How stupid is this? |

Years ago I saw an article in 'Electronics Now' (or whatever it was called at the time) that used 2 boost converters for the rail voltages.
Sounds do-able to me.
