How to disassemble EI cores?

Can you tell me how to disassemble the transformers found in the computer psu?I need to rewind them to give higher voltages.

Usually glued together, so you need to find replacement cores.

Use a heat gun to melt the glue and they will come apart. Let the core cool naturally as trying to cool it fast may crack it.

We used permanent glue if it didn't have clips like ETD style.
IMO transformers using glues that come apart with heat is a waiting disaster from an OEM/distributor point of view.

It has to be pretty intense heat to soften the glue. And they are taped together using high temperature tape so they are unlikely to fall apart even if overheated.

I have a better way!

Put it in really hot watter, wait everything get cold slowly.
When it is just a litle warm, use your hands to disassemble the core.

Easy.
