Hi,

Based on LP38798, I designed a 7805-compatible TO-220 board.
SMDs are 1206, which is relatively DIY-friendly.
Any comments?

Thanks

Eric

The TO220 vias look a bit small to my untrained eyes. Could you clip off the 7805 at the knee and slip this board onto the pins?

Hi,

Not exactly realizing your words, but it's based on a TO-220 model, so the vias, size and mounting holes will just fit. An L-shape 2.54mm 3pin is inserted, making it just like 7805.

Thank you so much dear friend:)
I've design a 3042 regulator module, pin-pin compatible with LM317, using a TO-220 D44H11. It can be mounted on a regular to-220 heat sink, just like LM317, so pretty interesting.

It would be more than a little interesting (depending on cost, obvs) to drop that into a off-the-shelf LM317 regulator (or PSU) board; these are cheap and readily available.

Would it become 3042-grade-wonderful, or would the rest of the board drag down the performance too much?

Got a first batch of LT3045 Boards (will test during holidays)

I brief - 25 x 35mm
Cin - 47uf 25v Tantalum (Kemet) + 10uf 25V MLCC (Murata)
Cout - 10uf 25V MLCC (Murata)
Cset - 10uf 25V MLCC (Murata)
Vishay resistors

Voltage can be configured by PIN (1-15v , 1V step) or by single resistor

More details will be posted here

Have you got an LTSpice sim for this regulator?
