I thought some of the "freestyle" circuits I built were ugly... I at least use electrical tape or nail polish to insulate close connections and hot glue to secure components so they won't move and short out. And of course, the ones that leave the lab (apart from proof of concept prototypes) are packaged to make them look prettier as I don't think it's right for a pretty electrical engineer to make ugly circuits. (Good thing that the "beauty" of circuits on the inside is the performance!)

I'm surprised something that early in the prototypes got into EDN. Ya think he'd of designed a dedicated board by then!
