Default Some questions about schematic symbol

Can you tell me what the little dots mean at the transformer...?

I have never wound a transformer before, much less made a switchmode supply, but I would like to try..

Also what would be a suitable wire thickness... max Vout will be about 260VDC but probably well under 10mA.

Polarity. If the end of the dot on one winding goes positive, the end of the other winding will also go positive.
