connect to circuit with different ground level

Dear all,

Anyone has an idea to connect two circuits with different ground level.

Transformers would be the preferred way although you can sometimes also couple with caps depending on the voltage difference and the circuits you are connecting.

Optical is another coupling method, although usually more complicated.

Why are your two grounds so different? Are there any safety issues that should be considered?

Thank you very much for your reply.....actually the isolation is for safety reasons...i guess ill consider the transformer coupling technique.

Yes, transformers for safety! remember to use the peak voltage not the RMS voltage when determining the withstand voltage for primary-secondary. I always like to double it but then I'm scared of electricity
