Hi all,
I had just notice that there are different grades of the 78xx from Onsemi and Ti. For Onsemi, the MC78xxA is better than the MC78xx. Ripple rejection (5V): 83dB vs 68dB Output Noise: 10uV/V Output Impedance: 0.9mR For Ti, TL780x better than uA780x Ripple rejection (5V): 85dB vs 78dB Output Noise: 75uV vs 40uV -- not sure how to made of this. Output Impedance: 3.5mR vs 17mR. Just wonder if anybody has comments on the improved version of the 78xx. Another question is in the older 78xx, one has to be careful with the output cap having too low ESR. But I can't find any notes of this in the newer datasheets. Is this a thing of the past and can I use low ESR caps without problems? TIA. ...Chuck T |
