Default Twisting Wires....which ones ?

Which hook-up wires do we want to twist, and which ones
should we not twist, inside our projects ?

AC main (120v, 220v, high voltage)

Transformer AC secondaries (low voltage)

Regulated DC psu output wires

Audio signal, line level

Phono signal inputs

What are the "rules" ?

I twist all AC pairs, power and signal, line and phono. IMO, there's nothing wrong with twisting DC power pairs as well, but I typically don't.

Twist all pairs. AC and DC. Keep wiring as short as possible. Parallel wires couple (=induce noise) more easily so try to have perpendicular intersections. Sometimes a straight short wire is better than a twisted pair (like in the PSU from rect. bridge to large capacitor bank or from one cap to another). Avoid loops.
