18-january-13 We are almost thru batch 6, Price is still $275 (CAD or USD)
08-march-12 We have sold out of batch 3, and are working on batch 4. For this next batch we have found plywood that is a bit better than baltic birch and is North American made. We continue to work to make small improvements in the details in the kits. Base price is increasing to $275 (CAD or USD), part of our incremental increase as we work towards the price targeted after the 1st batch (basic flat-paks will eventually be $290/set 29-august-11 Price on the next run of flat-paks has been set at $260 (still not high enuff but closer), it is a 1/3 spoken for. A removable baffle/vestigial supraBaffle option will be available for $40, extra subbaffles will be $25 (all pairs) 03-august-11: 1st run has been sold out. A 2nd run underway. More info Edit/Addendum: 06 Jun 11 Added picture, updated status, improved description As promised early on, flat-paks for the Frugel-Horn Mk3 are underway. (been shipping for a while now, still a backlog on getting them out, 3 of 15 remain as of 06 Jun 11 Flat-paks include precut cabinet panels of 15mm utility grade baltic birch, with an 18mm baffle Baltic Birch plywood (rebated and dadoed for easy assembly). drivers (optional, 10% discount if bought with flat-pak), terminals (5-way posts, 2" hole, good for sonics, tight for fat fingers, damping, wire (cryo 24g copper (from CAT5 cable)) for a pair of speakers. You will need to provide glue, screwdriver, soldering iron, drill & need to finish them. Clamps are useful & recommended, but a slow methodical assembly can usually be done with tape (masking usually -- anything that leaves a residue should be avoided) Standard rebates for Fostex FE126 (FE127 & FF125wk) Mark Audio CHR/CHP/EL70, Alpair 7, or blank. One went out for FE108eS so that can be ordered. Others. We'll try (really helps to have a driver on hand to do it). See mock assembly starting at Post #46 ![]() I've borrowed Colin's (aka Toppsy) pictures of his lovely build as examples. From the flat-pak you can build something broadly similar, we have round terminal cups that we like bettr than Colin's and the optional outriggers we have are a little different. ![]() This 1st run of 15 will be offered at $225/pr (estimated retail will be $275), and a 10% discount on EnABLed drivers if purchased with the flat-pak. 2 sets are already spoken for. The test packing suggests that maximum shipping in Canada or USA for the flat-pak alone will be ~$100 to Florida (i'll have better estimates when i take the proto down to Canada Post & weigh it). Postage quotes We are encouraging local manufacturers to start providing these so that shipping does not skew the value. Colin has been talking about making flat-paks in the UK (near Manchester), , there is also a fellow in the south of England contemplating flat-paks, and potentially in Australia. As well we are talking to a couple people in Europe. I can put you in touch with any of these guys. Perhaps some inquiries will get them going Further away will be more -- in some cases more than the flat-pak itself. eMail me if interested. That's why i picked Colin's

Some pictures of the prototype flat-pak
![]() ![]() ![]() Changes in the production flat-paks: 1/ baffles will be 18mm instead of 15mm 2/ the little piece will have a round-over instead of a champher 3/ the sides, top, & bottom will be extended 3mm so that the top back corner of the side with the rebates doesn't blow out. ![]() Here it is all packaged up -- needs one more layer of cardboard (20" iMac as size reference). It will need to be a bit thicker to accomodate drivers if purchased with the flat-pak. I'll take this down to the post office Wed and then i'll be able to figure out actual shipping costs. dave

I got the packaged flat-pak doen to the post office and weighed this last week. Heavier than i guessed -- guess was basd on FH1, Simplier did not counter taller, deeper, thicker wood as much as i thought it would.
Here is insured postage to a selection of North America (in CAD$) This does not include additional postage from drivers & their insurance: (edit: these quotes are turning out to be too optimistic, but will hold until the 2nd run) 06 jun 11 Contact me for a quote. dave

There is less need for an sB on these (especially with the Mark Audio drivers). As soon as Chris gets the flatpak betas assembled we will look to see how well the old sB fits. I have 3 or 4 left (as well as some deflectors).
