It was for aesthetics, not sure if it improves performance any. They do really disappear thou.

Jeff,

Nice touch and the P10 Kens are very impressive in their ability to disappear. You realize that as you also start enjoying the great bass articulation...

These are some FE126eN^2 that i was playing with some new artistic techniques. They are destined for our port-wine stained FH3. Picture doesn't capture the 3D-ness of the finish.
