The FF165wk goes up far enuff for most people. AFAIK none of the ones i’ve done are being used with a tweeter.

For near field i’d personally pick something a bit smaller.

FF165wk plans (that are drawn) are a bit basic as yet, but almost any Alpair 10p plan can be adapted so more can be done quickly. I always look at a bew one as an opportunity to flesh out the planset. There is always more to do.

I am working on a double high, double driver version of the Fonken165TT for the fellow with the quad of FF165 and will also drawn up the Twin Frugel-Horn XL (Frugel-Horn XXL?).

There will be a skinnier CFS, and 2 sizes of Classic Golden Ratio. A smaller trapezoid, and wider ones. And rectangular versions. At least.

Thanks Dave!

I can see a lot of R&D going on into this designs, I'll try to listen first to the stock FF125WK & FF165WK before making decision!

Last year I had built one full-range speaker set with Dayton Audio smallest driver PS-95 and it was good sounding driver even with some bass but because of small surface area didn't have any real impact, not enough even for near-field listening...

So this time I would like to try something with Fostex FF125WK or FF165WK in a simpler enclosure like dFonken125 or something similar for 165Wk if it exists ( like a slanted floor-stand box I've seen somewhere on DIYAudio - don't know the name ).

Two of four FF165wK’s getting exercise in their temporary homes, waiting to become TwinFonkens. Previously seen in Posts 243 & 250.

Also, the amps that will drive the speakers. I sometimes call the two mono blocks Lefty and Red,

'Been away from the DIY forum for a long time. During the sequester I came back and to say what a pleasure it is to admire this work.

I did a couple of EnABLs years ago and got a kit from Ed LeFontaine.

Please say if I should start a separate topic for my question:

During the stay at home I retrieved one speaker I never used. It is as Alpair CHP-70 very inexpensive. I've been reading the stiffening and cone treatment threads as much as I can catch up on. What is the wisdom for this small 4" driver?

Glad to see everybody here is still DIY and full range.
